The Native Women’s Resource Centre of Toronto (NWRCT) is a community-based organization dedicated to providing resources and support to urban Indigenous women and their families. NWRCT delivers culturally relevant programs and services that empower and build the collective capacity and self-sufficiency of Indigenous women.
As part of the NWRCT team, The Indigenous Anti-Human Trafficking Liaison will work with the community to identify community needs and assist in building capacity to address trafficking and support Indigenous survivors of trafficking. The IAHT Liaison will assist in providing targeted service-planning and delivery supports to Indigenous agencies and communities, as well as assisting non-Indigenous agencies seeking to provide culturally appropriate services to Indigenous survivors of Human Trafficking.
Post-secondary diploma/degree in social work, Indigenous studies, or women’s studies with a minimum of three (3) years’ work experience
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
Facilitation skills are an asset
Strong organizational/time management skills with an ability to plan ahead, define measureable objective, outcomes and meet timelines
Experience working with Indigenous Peoples and Communities is preferred
Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and family dynamics is preferred
Knowledge of and established relationships with other service agencies, ability to network and create/maintain these relationships
Thorough understanding of the issues that Indigenous women are facing in their lives and how human trafficking specifically impacts Indigenous women and will assist in the development of unique services that are tailored to meet their needs.
experiential knowledge in the area of Human Trafficking and/or sexual exploitation, who are a ‘survivor’ of Human Trafficking and/or sexual exploitation, who have completed a minimum of five (5) years of recovery work while living a HT/SE free life.
Must be trained in trauma informed care with a solid understanding of anti-oppressive framework.
facilitation skills as well as an ability to follow through on assigned duties independently within strict deadlines. Knowledge of Not-for-Profit organization program delivery.
Demonstrated experience providing services to Indigenous families and/or communities.
Strong awareness of issues affecting Indigenous women and awareness of Community
Proven analytical and problem solving skills
Working knowledge of MS Office, internet, and general office equipment
Current Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening are required
Frist Aid/CPR certifications are an asset
Implement, coordinate and deliver trainings and community engagement opportunities programs to effectively meet role
Implement culturally informed interventions and preventative strategies that address the high incidences of violence, homelessness, poverty, and trauma that Indigenous women and their families face in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
Take personal responsibility to increase sensitivity, awareness, and implementation of NWRCT cultural teachings and organizational practices in both professional conduct and work-related deliverables.
Assist in the development or enhancement of services that are tailored to meet the needs of community served through NWRCT
Create and execute programming and training for community to educate inform and gather knowledge
Host and coordinate awareness days
Develop partnerships and pathways to enhance services and supports of NWRCT
Support and work towards the overall aims and objectives of NWRCT and the Liaison role
Adhere to all policies and procedures. Carry out other tasks which may be necessary from time to time as required.
Complete reports monthly, quarterly, and annually, e.g. programming, statistics, evaluations and operational briefings, and submit to Program manager on or before due date
Maintain accurate and current records
Complete employee evaluations and implement professional development opportunities
Knowledge of stakeholders and other agencies with the ability to network and create/maintain these relationships
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
Adhere to policies, procedures and best practice as set by the NWRCT, and applicable funder mandated policies and procedures
Ability to create and maintain a confidential, welcoming, friendly and safe environment
The HT Liaison Worker will be directly accountable to the Program Manager or designate for the proper completion of the functions outlined in the job description.
